Use a recent colour photo on a plain light background. The face, including the ears, should fill most of the frame.
The 2026 bulletin asked for a photo taken after 1 January 2026. NTA also takes a live photo. This file does not replace that step.
What usually goes wrong
A busy background, a mask, or a tiny face in the frame is what gets rejected. White or plain light only.
What this page checks
JPEG, 10–200 KB, exported at 413×531 pixels (3.5 cm × 4.5 cm at 300 dpi) when the bulletin states centimetres rather than one pixel size.
