JEE Main 2027 photo and signature size
The JEE (Main) 2027 information bulletin was released by NTA on 24 October 2026. These are the upload rules it sets, and the dates you need for both sessions.
Status checked 4 November 2026: the JEE Main 2027 bulletin is out. Session 1 registration is open until 22 November 2026, 11:50 PM.
Upload sizes in the 2027 bulletin
| Upload | Format | Size |
|---|---|---|
| Scanned photograph | JPG/JPEG, colour, white background | 10–200 KB |
| Signature | JPG/JPEG | 10–100 KB |
| Class 10 certificate or mark sheet | 50–300 KB | |
| Live photograph | Taken in the form by webcam or phone | No file upload |
The bulletin asks for a recent passport size colour photo with about 80% of the face visible, including the ears, without a mask, on a white background. It does not set pixel dimensions, so ExamPhoto exports a 3.5×4.5 cm passport shape at 413×531 pixels, which fits easily inside the KB range.

The live photo is separate
The 2027 form asks for a live photograph during the application as well as the scanned photo. The live photo is taken inside the portal, so no resized file can replace it. Sit in front of a plain white wall in good light for that step.
Common mistakes
- Using a photo above 200 KB straight from the phone camera.
- Re-using a 300 KB photo or a 30 KB signature from an older guide. Those limits are wrong for 2027.
- A selfie with a background of furniture or a coloured wall.
