3.5×4.5 cm photo size

3.5×4.5 cm is the standard Indian passport-size photo. At 300 DPI that is 413×531 pixels, which this tool uses as the starting size.

A centimetre size only becomes pixels through DPI: pixels = cm ÷ 2.54 × DPI. Some forms use 200 DPI instead, so check whether your form prints pixels.

What usually goes wrong

The face should fill most of the frame with both ears visible. A small face in a large margin is a common rejection.

What this page checks

Exports 413×531 px by default with a KB range you can change. The Indian passport application uses a different digital size; use the passport tool for that.

How to prepare the file

  1. Check the current official instructions for your exam or application.
  2. Choose the correct image and adjust the crop so the document fills the guide.
  3. Make the JPEG, then check the downloaded file’s dimensions and file size before uploading it.

This tool can check the exported JPEG dimensions and byte size. It cannot confirm identity, image recency, face position, background rules, handwriting, or acceptance by the exam portal.
